This is Philip Kurivita's seventh book and second in the series 'from the menu'.
It's a beautiful guide and recipe book for some of the best and most popular restaurants in Hobart. Designed and put together in InDesign by his wife Vicky - the books look stunning.
Janice Suttons unique book Garlic Feast has received a couple of international awards.
Garlic feast secured the award 'best self published book of the year Australia' and 'Australian cookbook of the year' - well done Janice it's an epic book and these are epic awards.
This is the first year the my book design has received any sort of accolade other than selling really well for their clients!
Eloise decided she wanted to author a second recipe book. This book was to be about seafood.
Having worked together on her previous book the real food for kids cookbook last year, this was a pretty easy project. We had already figured out our workflow and the way that we liked to work together.
Using some of the same design choices but developing others we decided to publish a book and a slightly different format to the usual recipe books available. We used beautifully textured matte art paper for the pages. It was a softcover book but the cover was textured in the whole book had a beautiful wraparound photograph that Ellio had taken from the tessellated pavement's in Tasmania.
This was a very special projects from me. Jan Richards came to me with a request to print a book in an extremely short period of time.
Most of the books involved in a printed overseas and as such we need is a source different printer to complete this job is required at much sooner than an overseas printer would be able to deliver.
Getting a file ready for printing can have its challenges especially when its a 400+ page beautiful coffee table book!
Ellaandfriends are a photography studio in Melbourne. As well as offering studio based and location portrait photography they have been making coffee table books about dogs and their owners.
An update on the availability of the “Garlic Feast” cook book by Janice Sutton.
You may have read a previous blog about Janice’s book here
The book has just arrived in Australia and is now available to purchase from selected outlets. I believe there is going to be a formal book launch at Fuller's Bookshop.
Janice Sutton approached me back in June 2015 with the idea of self publishing a book about Garlic!
Janice needed assistance with project management, design and layout for her book. Its production took a long time but the book ended up having almost 340 pages. This was a complex book project to work on as it required collaboration between a number of photographers and contributors.
Ellie decided to widen her audience and make her book available to a global audience by creating an eBook and making it available through the iTunes store.
eBooks come in many shapes, sizes and file formats all utilized by an ever increasing amount of devices. To create an eBook that remains in the same layout as the author intended there is only one solution (currently) a fixed layout ePub3 file. It's a very comprehensive type of file that tells the eReader exactly where to place all the content - essential for any art / coffee table / recipe book.
